A better week than last week, with a lot of smoke towards the end, but also lower temperatures…
…which meant I did get a few more things done this week (as well as playing quite a bit of golf at the course, pictured in the evening light for this week’s cover image).
Reading:
Now reading and enjoying The Ten Thousand Doors of January by Alix E. Harrow.
Golf:
I’ve written a fair bit about golf recently, so all I need to say here is that I’ve been practising a lot and played the usual two competitions this week.
Exercise:
Physio went well (as usual). I’ve walked on the golf course, but not elsewhere this week. I did do a home weights session, which I really did not want to do at all, so good on me for completing even the fairly short session I managed! Keeping the momentum with weights is my main exercise focus at the moment. I could have got a run in too, I expect, but only Sunday. There was too much wind this week, and too much smoke on Thursday to run.
Food:
This was a better week for food. We used up the leftover yellow split pea and coconut curry from the freezer with a bit of extra chicken. D did poached eggs on toast, with baked beans for him (one of our favourite simple meals). I cooked a baked fetta sauce to have with pasta, which was ok, but (for various reasons) not quite as chill to cook as I was hoping. I also put together oven-cooked pork and fennel sausages with apple, carrot and potato.
Cooler weather means it’s finally time to get away from salad and barbecue.
Garden:
I did some tidying out back, which was just picking at things and making sure we can walk past things easily. Out the front I was collecting leaves (now they’re coming off the trees) but decided I’d use them for mulch as they are, rather than throwing them in the green bin. I watered all the outside plants that need this, including the balcony plants. I filled the bird baths too.
I’m beginning to read up on things I can grow to eat in the garden. For some reason I’m focused on ginger and lemongrass at the moment! I feel like I can start to plan some planting of various things now the hot weather is passing. (I think/hope… although it keeps coming back!)
Adventure:
I think I could say that golf was a bit of an adventure this week, both bad and good (see above for a link).
Sewing:
Nope. But I need to do some, because I’d like to get some wear out of another skirt before it cools off too much.
Three ideas:
- Keep practicing golf
- Organise a couple of appointments
- Make a skirt?
This week could have been really stressful, but I managed to take some time to relax as well as getting a fair bit done.
