Weeknotes 16 - 22 February 2026

Still avoiding things I don’t want to do (eg tidying my room and cupboard)…

…but the apathies lifted a bit this week as I watered the plants, filled the bird baths and even managed to wing-SUP again (although I was trounced by the swell).

  • Cover image: New cycad, Ceratozamia hildae (mexican, but this one was grown in WA, rare and beautiful).
  • Physio weights session was good and didn’t make me too sore.
  • Continued mobility training, already seeing improvements in flexibility and strength, but also a reduction in grumpiness with the whole thing.
  • Golf practice one day on range and putting. Not quite feeling it or committing to the process I think!
  • Two rounds of competition golf: 31 and 32. First 9 better than second, but a more even round for 32 in spite of being very tired. Kept my temper and stayed positive (mostly), so that’s good. Also took on some shots I’ve been avoiding for that second round, going for greens and chipping more confidently to the pin. Did not always pay off!! But was fun.
  • Wing-SUP down in Safety Bay, where the wind switched and increased quickly again causing a big windswell which made standing up difficult and turning pretty much impossible. Maybe I was too tired? But at least I went!
  • Had trouble with low energy levels this week. Even the magnesium wasn’t helping sleep recovery. However, I did do a lot of exercise (golf, physio, mobility, wing-SUP).
  • Visited South Perth for a plant sale where I caught up with friends and bought a new plant (see above).
  • Golf kit maintenance.
  • Bird of the week: sorry to say, but it’s probably the ones I saw on the web this week, a crazy cockatoo on a trampoline and a pigeon gracing the top of a blog post from one of my favourite writers.

We watched a lot of winter olympics coverage (from skeleton to curling via biathlon mostly). I read a lot of things on the web that made me wish I had had more confidence to call out various people’s bullshit on AI and education in some really weird meetings I attended a few years ago.
