Lots of golf and a new puzzle (pictured above)…
…which I finished too quickly because I just couldn’t stop!
Reading:
This week I read the new Rivers of London book, Stone and Sky, by Ben Aaronovitch. I read this very quickly and enjoyed it, although it is quite different from the other novels being centred on a different character much of the time. Now I’ve looked up the author’s site I realise that I could also read the short story collection too! I’ve got one of the graphic novels, but haven’t really considered getting into those.
I eventually remembered to look at The AI Con again, but I’ve resorted to skim reading because I don’t have much motivation to read more about the problems raised by big tech AI, its creation and deployment.
Golf:
I practiced twice and played twice this week. My chipping and putting continues to improve. My game was great for the first competition and half of the second, but deeply flawed for the final half.
I may have got a bit lazy with my setup routine in the wind and rain, but overall I think I was just a bit irritated by a particularly poor shot choice and execution which left me in the garden at one point (unable to get out in one shot).
I’ve still got no confidence with driver on course, which leads to some half-hearted strikes that are never going to work that well (although they might not be too dreadful either).
Exercise:
I did one reasonable (two times around my circuit) home session this week to almost make an hour of weights (including physion on Monday). I was not motivated to do more on Saturday, so I went for a long-ish walk instead with D.
Food:
We flaked out a bit this week, but managed to eat some vegetables! Standby poached eggs were deployed twice, a sure sign we were hunkering down, watching golf and avoiding going anywhere in the wind and rain on the weekend.
Garden:
Nope. Much to be done now after the storm.
Adventure:
I completed one of the new jigsaws I bought last week. I got so intensely concentrated that it was difficult to drag myself away and I finished it off in two days. That’s almost too fast to really enjoy the process.
Sewing:
Nope. As I suggested last week. No time (around playing and watching golf).
Three ideas:
- Get back to two additional weights sessions to take me over the hour a week
- Water the inside plants (which are living in serious drought conditions at the moment)
- Gah… there are things I really should do (sorry, we’ve gone beyond “could” for this stuff now) so I need to pick one thing and actually do that thing. (Time to look at How to Do Things again!)
I’m continuing to be pretty active (when it’s not rainy and blowing a gale). I didn’t get around to running this week, but it’s still in my mind when the weather improves again (and maybe this week it’ll work out since I might bail on golf in the rain mid-week).
