Filling in medical forms drains my energy as does playing trash golf, but my attempts to do things (whatever they might be) continue…
…while I’ve not implemented the block method from How to Do Things I have identified a few things I’d like to do in the next few months.
Reading:
I am re-reading The Traveler’s Gate Trilogy by Will Wight for fun. I also bought, am reading and considering the usefulness of, Your Worry Makes Sense by Dr Martin Brunet.
Golf:
The bruise on the heel of my left hand took a while to resolve. No practice until Tuesday when I did an hour of chipping (and it went very well). Wednesday’s competition was a pairs event, Canadian Foursomes, where you both drive and then pick the ball you will continue to play alternate shots for to complete the hole. My partner and I oscillated between great and truly awful shots all round. We were three holes from the end when I finally had to announce that I’d got irritated - I just couldn’t take the trash golf I was playing any more! We finished up though, and apparently everyone else was having issues because we came third (joint second, third on a count back, which is how these things work).
I couldn’t face practising on Thursday, so gave it a miss. No golf Friday (Good Friday). My Sunday practice on course was terrible. Not sure where my game has gone, but I expect if I just relax and have fun it’ll come back. That is how it goes -shrug-.
Exercise:
Physio was good. I managed a whole 12 minutes of home weights on Saturday, which given my motivation level this week was excellent. The bulgarian split squats always hit the mark - ie I ache the day after in what is presumably a good way - so I really need to be doing these every week.
I went for a run on Sunday morning. Woot!
Food:
We did ok this week. I cooked things (including vegetables). We ate things (including vegetables). I went out and left D at home with something I prepared earlier (ie from the freezer). He’s perfectly capable of cooking, but this was a perfect meal for one that was left over.
Garden:
I looked at the garden, but, unlike keen gardeners on long weekends, I was not inspired to do anything. You know what How to do Things says about inspiration? Don’t wait for it. There’s a lesson there somewhere… hence I need to implement the block method for some things I would like to do in the garden (divided up into specific tasks).
Adventure:
I went out to dinner somewhere new with my golf buddies. That’s an adventure for me and the food was excellent.
Sewing:
I went back to the two pairs of Chandler Trousers I made ages ago (two years?). Neither pair fit at all well anymore. They weren’t that well made or fitted to begin with, to be honest, and I have changed shape since then (with weights etc). I was never that happy with the tapered leg shape of the pattern. They always felt like clown trousers to me (it’s just a me thing, I think). The green pair were so large that I experimented with reshaping them to a straighter leg. I think that’ll work for them and for me, so I’m going to alter the pattern before making another pair more carefully (slowly) with some of the nicer linen I bought from Potter & Co. I bought that material for a skirt, but they sold the fabric by the metre and it turns out I ended up with enough to make these trousers (at least I hope I have, if I’m careful)!
Three ideas:
- Keep going with well-organised golf practice
- Try out the block method on something I’d like to do
- Work on managing my worries (just a little better would be a good start)
I organised the other appointment and got that out of the way. I also went back into work for lunch with someone I missed last time without getting as discombobulated as the last time I went there. (It’s getting easier to be there without negative feelings.)
